Essays:

Joni published a series of essays in Tampa Bay Sounding, a newsletter for Tampa Bay Mensa. Many of these essays were also published in newsletters of other chapters. "Harvest Time in the City" was featured on the website "WritersCollege.com" as an example of the essay format. "Call Me" won 3rd place in the "FundsforWriters.com" contest "They Paid Me to Write" in December 2005. She started writing and publishing these essays on a dare from another writer to help her discover her voice.
